Fiskars Momentum push reel lawn mower

We’ve been hearing information about a new push reel mower from Fiskars called the Momentum reel mower.

Supposedly, it should be available for the spring of 2010.

In Canada, there is evidently an exclusive with Canadian Tire, which will carry the mower.

We don’t know what the situation will be in the United States.

We’ve seen a news release about the Fiskars Momentum reel mower, and here are some of the details that we know so far.

Fiskars Mower Ergonomics:

The Momentum reel mower has several features that they claim will make mowing easier and more enjoyable. An ergonomic height adjustable handle will have a padded grip to make it easy on the hands. The mower will have a quick and easy one-touch cut height adjustment system if you want to change the height. And the grass discharge chute directs grass clippings forward, away from the user’s feet.

Fiskars VersaCut Reel Mower Design:

The Momentum supposedly has the greatest cutting height range of any reel mower. The settings start from a minimum cutting height of 1 inch and go up to a maximum cutting height of 4 inches. The company also says that the reel mower edges three times closer than some other reel mowers, and does not leave uncut grass strips under the wheels.

StaySharp Blades and Cutting System:

Precision engineering by Fiskars allows grass to be cut without the blades touching the cutter bar, which significantly reduces friction and blade wear. (This is a feature that Brill has had for many, many years, by the way.) By eliminating the steel-on-steel contact that dulls some brands of standard push reel lawnmowers, the blades can be maintained without annual sharpening.

InertiaDrive Mower Technology:

A large diameter cutting reel and heavy blades store energy similarly to a flywheel, so the Momentum push reel mower provides the user up to twice the amount of power to cut through things like small twigs, weeds or dense grass that can sometimes clog otherĀ  reel mowers. The Fiskars Momentum lawnmower also needs 30 percent less pushing force than standard reel mowers when cutting long grass, according to Fiskars.

We saw an early review of the mower here.

And this is a video on YouTube, evidently created by the same person.
